Fruity 5s & Sassy 7s Leagues

In addition to our all-club Summer of Freedom, FTSC also runs two more in-house leagues: Fruity Fives and Sassy Sevens! Both are run in conjunction with our partners at District Sports.

Fruity 5s is our upper-level, in-house league, made up largely of players from our D1 and D2 teams. 35-40 players in five teams play 5v5 games on Wednesday evenings in Parkview. Fruity 5s plays in spring, fall, and winter (indoor), usually taking off for the summer. The current league organizers are Jon Bailey and Craig Williams.

Sassy 7s is our all-skills, in-house league, welcoming all club members as well as people new to soccer. This league is our newest playing opportunity, founded in the spring of 2022. Four to eight teams of 12 players play 7v7 games on Sunday afternoons in Columbia Heights. The league plays all four seasons, providing year-round weekend competition, usually with more teams in spring and fall. The current league organizer is Sophie Aung.

The fall season is scheduled to begin on Sunday, 9/15.

Summer of Freedom League

Summer of Freedom is FTSC’s intra-club league and DC’s first and only LGBT (straight friendly) soccer league. We are very excited to bring together the various FTSC groupings – pickup and league, upper and lower divisions, women and men – and mix it up with new friends. Straight allies are welcome.

Twelve teams will be set up and led by co-captains and a team manager. Using a snake-draft to ensure skill equity across all the teams, team leaders select team members. Participants are guaranteed:

  • placement in a recreational/social All-Gender 9v9 Summer league

  • Tuesday evening games in Columbia Heights

  • 8 regular season games

  • chance to play in play-off matches en route to the Cummings SoF Championship Cup

  • the possibility of winning a $300 bar tab and the Napolitano Miss Congeniality Trophy for the team that exhibits graciousness and sportsmanship throughout the season

  • A Summer of Freedom jersey to treasure forever & ever

  • and most importantly, the opportunity to make some new friends

Teams have been set for the 2024 season! Registration for our substitute list is open (see link at left). Subs MUST be registered through District Sports for liability reasons.
